Written prompts sit unanswered for months. A conversation is different. You answer out loud, the interviewer follows what you say, and the stories come out the way you actually tell them.
How it works
Talk
Open the interview on a phone, tablet, or computer and start talking. Your interviewer listens, asks one question at a time, and follows the stories that matter to you.
Take your time
A full interview runs about three hours, spread across as many sittings as you like. Say you are done for now, and next time it remembers exactly where you were.
Choose what it becomes
Review and correct anything. Then choose what to make from it, and who may see it. Nothing leaves your archive without your separate permission.

Giving it to a parent?
Many interviews will be gifts from a son or daughter. A gift pays for the interview; it does not give the giver access to it. Your parent decides what to share, with whom, and when.
